I have finally landed! Well, albeit 2.5 days ago (or precisely 58 hours and 10 minutes if your the anal type … ahh shaaddup, I just have too much time on my hands at the moment!)

Weather is surprisingly mild for the time of the year, a lovely 20-24C and actually its good timing, as I don’t think I could stand one extreme to another. Well, I wouldn’t call London’s 9C as extreme, but its fairly chilly considering the jump in temperature!

I’ve been resting for the most of yesterday, sleeping most of Monday off to try and rid me off this cold I’ve caught in London. The drugs here are amazing, when they say drowsy, they really fuckin’ mean DROWSY … I could barely keep my eyes open yesterday. So whatever happenned yesterday, I missed most of it. I just happenned to annoy the wife whenever she called to check on me, I’d always pick up the phone in a half-conscious state.

Well, it did the trick anyway and I’m feeling much better.

I have not yet gorged myself with the wonderful food here quite yet, though I did have a pretty good meal with my new extended family on Sunday night at this restaurant called ‘Baan Klang Krung’ on Narathiwat Road (there’s more to this name, but I’ll fill in the blanks later!). Great food … oooh must go again! If Thailand’s web elite ever get around to a streetmap.co.uk equivalent I will definitely post a link!

Anyways, I’m just hanging out with my wife (Du) at her shop. Managed to fix her laptop as she couldn’t seem to browse any of her webmail accounts. Turns out that Norton’s Internet Security software application was badgering any access dealing with SSL - so I promptly binned it and now trying a copy of Zone Labs - Zone Alarm Security Suite which was A-LISTed in PC Pro.

Totally unrelated to anything else I’ve talked about, most people are aware of how delicious fruits are in Thailand, or asia for that matter - but I’ve come across a mammoth of an apple … thats apparently normal in size according to Du. Well, bugger me, but I’m just used to the offspring of this momma apple! Take at look at this shot…you all know how big a CD is - check this out for a comparison! I mean look at it, its the size of my heart!

It’s probably not the largest in the world or that you’ve seen, but thats pretty bloody impressive for a NORMAL sized apple wouldn’t you say???

I’ve been hacking away at this apple since I started writing this post, and I’ve still yet to eat away the top layer … perhaps McDonald’s should sell this as a meal with a coke or something…

I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather lately as I’ve been having late nights packing in preparing for my move. So I’ve got a little bit of a cold.

My boss at work recommended I take of his cod liver oil pills and directed me to pick one out of his bottom drawer.

Now take at look at this… wtf? Is it a pill or a suppository?!

I was reading the Gallery2 coding standards page as I find it quite useful to read guidelines like these to help in my own coding. It pays to do things a set way!

Anyways, there’s a section on operator precedence, and the author said the following:

Do you know the exact precedence of all the operators in PHP? Neither do I. Don’t guess. Always make it obvious by using brackets to force the precedence of an equation so you know what it does.

Suddenly, I remembered BODMAS.

Now, I’m not particularly fluent in maths as I should be - I’m a web developer (shame I know, shame…), however I felt quite good that I remembered what the acrynom stands for, well all except ‘O’ … that eluded me so I had to look it up - hahah.

Very useful to know … and why I’m not better at Maths really affects my working ability. So kids, study your times tables!! I wish I did!

Geeks should know the answer to this anyways so no extra points for being a smart arse.

Now when will Google let me register for Analytics (buh bai Urchin). It seems everyone else knew about it so quickly but me … poo :(

Incidentally, if you happen to program a website using MySQL and have an international audience, I found a great site that provides you with the ISO3166 country list ready to insert into the DB.

Its bit of a boring week so far. All the fun thats been going on has been had last week …

So I guess i’m on a bit of a downer because of that. Last weekend was good fun … not so sure I’d repeat the drinking bit though. But good memories.

Lack of sleep doesn’t help … packing and sorting out my bits n pieces until the early hours does wear me out. Must try to get an early night. Also need to fit in seeing friends before I’m off, but I think thats going to get rather difficult as I need to budget carefully now in order have a bit of spare cash to stay on top of my loan whilst I look for permanant work in Thailand.

I think I’m quite pleased I’m getting out of the UK. No more transport fare rises every year, no more industrial action from tube/train drivers over pay (every fucking year? Give me 30K and I’ll push and pull a leaver!) and no more poo poo weather - actually its been rather good this year. Heheh

What a week of Partying!

I’m so pumped and feel so ill at the same time. Company x-mas party and my friends birthday / my leaving drinks on Saturday night…

Man am I too old for this Shit…

It’s probably my last big up party before moving over to Bangkok - can’t be a party boy all my life can we! Especially not married heheh

Its been a good week and I will be especially sad to leave good friends, but it’s time to move on.

Well, I still got a few weeks left … :)
