NHS who? The National Health Service? Nooo … NHS Intercon is a company I work for in Bangkok! NHS are the letters of my bosses nieces and nephews - but I don’t remember what their called …
Anyways, miss me? After slaving over the past month - I have finally finished made live my company’s website! Check it out here. Nothing like a bit of self promotion … but for me its kinda cool to actually have done some hands on development rather than just management most of the time.
Did I do a good job? Can I make any improvements … let me know! All feedback is good feedback!
Right now the site is under constant development, so we’ll see what we can introduce thats interesting. All I’ve used is X/HTML 1.0 Transitional (I know I’m weak!), CSS with a hint of browser based formatting (i used the “-moz-opacity” - tut tut), a sprinkle of PHP to template up the site, a wee bit of JavaScript and lots of TLC. I neglected a DB driven site because I just didn’t have the time to implement anything more meaty. Do you think its worth hacking apart Wordpress into a CMS? Hmm …
Although its been a busy month, I’ve been busy trying to push AJAX in the office. There seems to be a limited amount of AJAX knowledge in Thailand, therefore I’m trying to give it a little push - not that I know that much myself, but its just great to try something new(ish).
I am however concerned about the useability of AJAX with regards to accessibility. This is something I’m still exploring and something I’ll need to keep on top off as NHS Intercon has just landed a rather large commission with a hospital. Time to put on my W3C/WAI hat and make sure that everyone can access the information available.
Right now I’m using the AJAX class for PHP called XAJAX which at the moment is on v0.2.4. Its quite easy to implement and an excellent start to using AJAX, though I reckon later on its in my best interest to try something from scratch. There’s also a good book from WROX called Professional AJAX thats I’ve just got my hands on so I’m looking forward to reading that.
In the mean time - check out a bit of AJAX at Zazzle.com - Wow!
